Early Years Career Progression Pathways (EYCPP) Workshop: Introduction to Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) in Early Years Education

Delivered by BCU Lecturer Jessica Wythe, we are excited to invite you to attend the Introduction to Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) in Early Years Education workshop delivered virtually on MS Teams. 

The workshop will cover:

  • Overview of what SEND is

  • Introducing to the SEND Code of Practice (2014) and the role of SEND within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)(2021)

  • What is the role of an early years practitioner in supporting learners with SEND?

  • Early intervention – why is this important?

  • Supporting learners through transition – e.g. transition to school

  • Interdisciplinary working in an EYFS setting – how does it work and why is it important?

  • How can we differentiate early years education to make it more inclusive/accessible?

More about the ECYPP

The Early Years Careers Progression Pathways Project or EYCPP is a newly launched project, part-funded by the EU European Social Fund, bringing together expertise from Birmingham City University, Newman University and West Smethwick Enterprise.

The project is designed to deliver an innovative programme of fully-funded skills interventions to residents in Greater Birmingham and Solihull. The programme will enhance the skills base of employees and help to improve employability within the Early Years Sector.
