Hall Green Facts

Did you know…

Sarehole Mill is a well-known landmark where author J.R.R. Tolkein spent a large part of his childhood. The area provided much of the inspiration for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books.

Parts of the district are extremely well known for their Balti Houses — restaurants serving Balti curries — and are still sometimes referred to as the 'Balti Triangle'.

Comedian Tony Hancock was born in Hall Green in 1924. His former house has a commemorative plaque in his honour.
