District Language Champions Needed

Could you join our team of District Language Champions? Our fully-funded programme has spaces available for childminders and practitioners working in PVI settings or schools.

LIVERLEY Champions required

We have fully-funded professional development opportunities available to join our Leading and Improving Vocabulary, Early Reading and Language in Early Years (LIVERLEY) programme. We are currently seeking practitioners working in PVI settings or schools, as well as childminders, to fill our open District Language Champion roles.

What does the LIVERLEY programme involve?

The LIVERLEY programme is a training course made up of three core modules, plus three twilight sessions delivered by Helen Moylett, Professor Chris Pascal and Professor Tony Bertram. Training sessions are currently being delivered in virtual half-day sessions, via Zoom:

  • Module 1: Understanding the Development of Communication, Language and Early Reading: Part 1 - Tues 23rd Nov, Part 2 - Tues 11th Jan

  • Module 2: Teaching Excellence: Part 1 - Tues 1st Feb, Part 2 - Tues 1st Mar

  • Module 3: Leading Setting Improvement: Part 1 - Tues 10th May, Part 2 - Tues 24th May

  • Plus 3 supportive 1-hour twilight sessions in late January/late March/late June (exact dates to be confirmed)

The programme uses reflective, analytical, and enquiry-based activities using journals and research evidence of professional practice, with self-directed activities to be undertaken between each of the sessions.

All course content directly relates to evaluating and improving current practice and setting policy.

The LIVERLEY programme develops a sustainable, cyclical improvement process in each setting embedding a culture of review, evaluation and action, and enabling further cascade of training through the District Networks.

What do the Language Champions do?

  • Attend the LIVERLEY training and complete the implementation tasks

  • Share effective practice to promote communication and language with other practitioners and settings in your district, through the EY District Network Meetings that take place each term

What support do the Language Champions get?

  • Professional mentoring and support throughout the course

  • Become part of a community of Language Champions in your district

  • Full funding to complete the course - an additional financial contribution to fulfil the Language Champion role is also available

LIVERLEY programme feedback

Here's what some of the practitioners who have already completed the LIVERLEY course thought...

I feel for the stage I am at in my career the course was perfect, it was reassuring, informative, interesting and it was great to have a team of people teaching me who are so passionate about what they do in early years and supporting children.

I went into this job many years ago to make a difference and listening to speakers like we have had the opportunity to, helps me continue to go on and make even more of a difference.

I really enjoyed all aspects of the course, I am excited to be part of this new initiative supporting the Early Years Sector moving forward.

Thank you for delivering this course, I have really enjoyed it and feel more confident with my knowledge!

If you are interested in completing the LIVERLEY training and becoming one of our District Language Champions, please email us by Friday 15th October 2021.
