Northfield District Network Meetings - Autumn Term

The Northfield Network Meetings aim to provide local practitioners with the opportunity to share information and access professional development.

Meetings take place once per term and are open for anyone to attend.

The sessions on offer are planned in response to local or national priorities and practitioners’ needs. They are an opportunity to connect with other Early Years colleagues in your area, keep up to date, and share good practice.

Agenda:

  • Next steps with WellComm: Are you planning to use WellComm screening with your children this term? Have you already started? Do you have questions about how it works or what you need to do? Bring your questions and be prepared to share your experiences with others in our district.

  • Supporting children with speech, language and communication development: Find out about how you can access support from the district speech and language therapist, as well as your district language champions.

  • EYFS 2021 bitesize: Now that the new framework is in place what are you thinking about? We will share some updates and ideas around the new framework but please bring your questions and ideas to share with others.

  • Developing Local Provisions (DLP): Have you read about this on the Birmingham Early Years Networks website? It’s an exciting new project that is in its early stages…. come along and find out more and bring your questions so that we can take them back to our steering group and the central planning team.

  • Other local priorities and sharing: How are you all coping with the ongoing pandemic? How can we support each other? How can we support the children and families we work with?

What is a Steering Group?

Northfield district covers the wards of Allens Cross, Bournville and Cotteridge, Frankley Great Park, parts of Kings Norton North, Kings Norton South, Longbridge and West Heath, Northfield, Rubery and Rednal, and parts of Weoley and Selly Oak.

Each district is run by a Steering Group, that meets at least three times a year. The Steering Group is made up of representatives from across the Early Years community and childcare provision in the district who work together to support contact, communication, collaboration, and engagement across the sector.

Steering Group representatives use the District Data Profiles, alongside any other local information, to develop an action plan that is focused on the children in the district.

More information about Steering Groups and how they are run can be found here.

Keep up to date!
